About Me
I am a media artist, creative coder, and sound engineer working at the intersection of algorithmic composition and immersive audio-visual environments. My work is driven by a fascination with the hidden structures of sound and the potential of code to transcend physical acoustic limitations.
Currently, my research focuses on „Spectral Elasticity“—the development of synthesis tools that allow for the manipulation of harmonic structures through stretched and compressed overtones. By utilizing environments like SuperCollider, PureData, and Csound, I create custom frameworks that bridge the gap between traditional music theory and experimental digital signal processing.
Beyond my research, I have extensive experience in high-end audio-visual production. My portfolio includes:
- Creative Coding & Tool Development (e.g., DrawTone), focusing on intuitive interfaces for algorithmic and generative art.
- Audio Post-Production & Sound Design for short films and cinematic trailers.
- Tonmeister Services for on-set and live theater recordings.
- 3D Visualization & Video Editing, creating cohesive sensory experiences across various media.
Whether I am engineering a film mix in ProTools or architecting a new synthesis engine in Python, my goal is always to explore how digital precision can enhance artistic expression.
Artistic Statement
My artistic practice explores the convergence of algorithmic composition, creative coding and technical audio engineering. With a background as a professional audio-engineer and Jazz composer, my work has evolved from capturing sound and playing in and composing for Jazz bands to synthesizing music at its physical core and therefor expanding the tool-kit for composers and what’s musically possible.
While my professional experience in film and post-production demands absolute sonic precision, my coding practice serves as a laboratory for experimentation. I am driven by the question of how digital systems can transcend standard synthesis models to create precise, organic and „elastic“ timbres and tonal systems as an expansion of modern music.
This portfolio presents a selection of works that bridge these disciplines:
- Computational Research: Tools and engines developed to explore microtonality and spectral synthesis (the foundation of my proposed PhD research).
- Audio-Visual Engineering: Professional works demonstrating high-fidelity sound design and mixing.
- Compositional Roots: Orchestral works that ground my technical research in musical form.
